DAY 3

Today is the third day of potty training Ella. I keep having people tell me, "oh my kids just did it, they were potty trained in 1 day." WHAT? Am I the only one struggling with this? Am I going about this all wrong? She is actually doing pretty well with the "pee pee" part. I have a little potty in the kitchen and she tells me when she has to go pee and she goes in the potty. There is never pee on the floor that I have to clean up, although her panties are always a little wet. This is normal right? I think she actually has to FEEL that she is wet before she realizes she has to go. I am hoping this will get better with time? But the "poo poo" is another story. She has not gone ONCE in the potty, always in her panties. I don't know what to do about this. We have a big bag of wrapped presents that are her "poo poo prizes." She seems excited about them and wants them, but not enough to poo in the potty! When I tell her that she needs to poo in the potty she says, "no I can't, I'm afraid." Any advice from you mothers with potty trained kids? Will I ever be able to leave the house again?

Here are some of the things I am doing: I have a little potty in the kitchen that she usually uses, its a lot closer than the bathroom. I also have a potty seat on the big toilet. She gets a piece of candy every time she goes in the potty. She also gets to put a sticker on her potty chart, when it is full she gets to go to Pirate Island. There are the poo prizes that she has yet to receive. She wears a potty watch that sings a song every 30 minutes and we all yell, "its potty time!" She has panties that she picked out herself and we discuss how Dora and the Princesses don't want to get wet so we need to keep them dry.
What else can I do? More specifically, how can I get her to POOP in the POTTY???

Lindsay: I know this is going to sound totally crazy...it is! But I heard that something you can do is to tell them their "poo poo" needs to be with his friends in the toilet. Tell her his friends are waiting and he needs to go down the drain with them. You can say "it's not scary it's fun for the "poo poo" to be with his friends." Then you can flush the toliet and say "bye have fun with your friends" I think it was my mom that actually heard this from her pediatrician. She laughed hysterically and then tried it...it worked! :) I think you are doing everything right though, you'll get through it and then you can tell me how to do girls!! :O)

KEEP GOING! I still go places I just put molly in a diaper, since she hasnt had an accident in 2 days then we will venture out in panties.IT is a scary thing. You are doing everything you should be. I would only put her in diapers/pullups when she takes a nap and that is IT since she is a little older and understands it better than Molly did. She will get it Molly took 3 weeks to get to this point.

The poop is sometimes scary for them. Some kids feel like it is apart of them that they are loosing...
The whole little bit of wetness Kodi did that too, and yes it does get better lol
Does she have an older cousin or friend that does use the potty that she looks up too.. Sometimes they will do anything to be like other little girls.. I am not sure lol GOOD LUCK and KEEP @ it!!

Hi Lindsey-
I am blog stocking you from Gina's. I was having the same problem with Kailin. I finally found she loved lip gloss. I bought a little bucket that had 12 in it and she got to pick one each time she went poo in the potty. It still took a day, but if she could see what she was getting she wanted it. She also did not like me in there. She would go do it and then come tell me to look in the potty. We have now gone 1 week with no accidents. Yeah!!!! Good Luck!
