The 3rd and Final Day....

Don't judge me. I really tried. Really. I mentally prepared myself for the potty training process. I knew it would be hard, I knew it would be messy, I knew it would be frustrating, but I was ready. And I really thought Ella was too. For three days we went at this hard core. Every twenty minutes the timer went off and it was potty time. We would sit in the bathroom together for hours. We would read books on the potty and sing songs on the potty. She watched her friend go potty, she watched me go potty. We had potty charts, special stickers, rewards. All the incentives including candy and tattoos (her favorites!). In short, she did not go potty in the toilet once. Not one time. She would be on the toilet at times from 20-30 minutes straight, insist she didn't need to go, we would put the panties back on her, and in less than a minute or two she would pee on the floor. So I gave up, I'm a failure, okay! If I saw ANY progress at all, I would still be potty training her. But honestly from the very first time she sat on the potty until the end of the 3rd day, there was no progress. None. So I finally decided no matter how much I want her to be ready now, she just isnt. And thats okay. I think after the holidays we will try again. Hopefully she will be showing some interest in a couple months. Eventually, she will get it. Right? .........................don't judge me. :)

Oh Linds, you are so funny! If it makes you feel any better I know a lot of Moms who did the same thing and they pretty much realized they are ready when they want to be, there is no rushing them! She will be interested soon I am sure :) I don't envy you though, I am not looking forward to having to do that, at least I have a few years to prepare!!! hahaha Are you going to be in St. George for Thanksgiving or Christmas??

You can't force a kid to do it. They all have their own little clocks and will do it on their time. You are so funny! She is a smart girl she will do it no worries :)

Lindsay: I actually think you are really smart! Honestly. I have learned from many a friends that the easiest way to do it is to wait until they are ready. Otherwise it ends up being a lot of frustration on your part, and the poor child is confused and just doesn't get it yet. I asked and asked around before I trained Parker and the consensus I got was boys...3 yrs old. So a week after his 3rd birthday I did it and he had about 3 accidents ever. I was so glad I waited until he was ready.

I know girls are different so I'll probably start mine at 2 1/2 but if they r not ready you better beleive those diapers are going back on. HOpefully by then you will have perfected the potty training and I can ask you how to do girls! :)

I am so impressed with all you did and the work you put into it...you are definitely not judged in my mind you are applauded! :)

Lindsay, it is so hard! It's okay, just remember that she won't be in diapers forever- take your time.
